How Staycations are Set to Soar
Staycations set to soar from 2020 with the Irish opting to choose a holiday within Ireland.
When the current restrictions lift, many will take the opportunity to enjoy the best of what Ireland has to offer when it comes to attractions and hospitality. Among Five Star clients for self-catering breaks, the counties of Cork, Kerry, Galway, Mayo and Clare are currently trending.
Fáilte Ireland has launched a brand new €6m campaign called 'Keep Discovering' to promote Staycations, encouraging holidaymakers to move away from their habits and rather than go to the same location every year to try something new. They are highlighting new experiences and lesser-known spots across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Research from Fáilte Ireland shows that 4 out of 5 people in Ireland return to the same location in Ireland every year on holidays and it seems Irish people are creatures of habit.
According to Fáilte Ireland's CEO Paul Kelly, only just over half (56%) of Irish people currently take a break in Ireland, but this is now likely to rise dramatically following the impact of Coronavirus.
"By putting 'discovery' at the heart of our new campaign we hope to encourage more people to explore more areas of the country and experience the joy and simplicity of discovery," stated Paul Kelly.
'Keep Discovering' is one of the most extensive and most intensive marketing campaigns ever launched by Fáilte Ireland which aims to deliver a financial boost of €96million to the Irish economy over the next three years.
"Failte Ireland's investment in 'Keep Discovering' will not just support the Irish tourism industry it will also help develop job creation and enrich rural development right across the country," added Paul Kelly.
