Hollywood and the rest of the world suffered a profound loss last week with the death of inspirational and charismatic actor Sidney Poitier at the age of 94.
Poitier was an exceptional actor and a powerful voice against injustice and racism. Poitier won the best actor Oscar for the 1963 hit 'Lillies of the field.'
His performance as Virgil Tibbs in the classic 1967 movie 'Heat of the Night ' is still considered one of the best performances of all time.
Other inspirational lead roles from Poitier came in the groundbreaking films 'To Sir With Love' and 'Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?' and they are still in the must-see movies category to this very day.
